C4 Architects delivered a new visitor-focused addition to the Treasury Wine Estates site in the Barossa Valley, creating dedicated space for functions and premium experiences. Working within the constraints of an established winery, the project required a carefully coordinated approach to planning, design and construction while maintaining ongoing operations across the site.

Design approach
The brief for this addition to the Treasury Wine Estates winery was to create a distinctive new environment for premium wines and a new VIP visitor experience, including a dedicated entry and tasting space overlooking the premium red open fermenter.
The winery would continue operations while the construction took place, requiring a considered response from our planners for how we would work within an active site. We needed to navigate space constraints from the existing site while adhering to vehicle movement and environmental light spill requirements throughout construction. Close collaboration between the C4 Architects team and the Treasury Wine Estates team helped establish a detailed project brief, allowing us to carefully plan access requirements and coordinate works around ongoing winery operations.
To accommodate the new VIP visitor experience, we designed a dedicated arrival experience at the edge of the site, using the surrounding established landscape and framed views to create a welcoming focal point. We’ve drawn on the site’s natural features to highlight points of interest that enhance both the visitor experience and the building's overall design. Within an otherwise industrial setting, this space brings a human touch to the environment, creating a warm and inviting experience while giving the business flexibility for how they use the space with visitors.
